Current MP Didarul Alam withdrew from the independent candidate by supporting the boat candidate. He made this announcement in an exchange of views with local journalists at Didar’s City Gate residence around 7 pm on Friday.
However, the current MP Didarul Alam submitted nomination papers against Awami League nominated candidate i.e. the boat symbol in Chittagong-4 (Sitakund and Akbar Shah and Uttar Pahartali Ward) seats in the upcoming 12th National Parliament Election yesterday.
Didarul Alam said, I can never be a candidate against Bangabandhu boat. I said earlier, I will work for whoever gives the boat to Sheikh Hasina. He said, I have done a lot of development work in Sitakunda, I hope the boatman who wins in Sitakunda constituency will continue my development.
Didarul Alam was elected as the Awami League candidate in the Sitakunda constituency in the 2014 and 2018 parliamentary elections. However, this time he did not get the party nomination of Awami League.
Sitakunda Upazila Awami League general secretary and former upazila chairman SM Al Mamun has been nominated by Awami League for this seat.
