The officers-in-charge (OCs) of 338 police stations across the country have been transferred simultaneously by the Police Headquarters ahead of the 12th parliamentary election.
An office order signed by Additional Inspector General of Police (Admn) Md Kamrul Ahsan was issued in this regard on Thursday.
The order states that 338 police inspectors have been transferred/promoted as mentioned beside their names at the consent of Election Commission Secretariat’s memo and Home Ministry’s memo.
Earlier, the Police Headquarters made a proposal for transfer of the OCs at the directive of the Election Commission ahead of the 12th Parliamentary election. The proposal was sent to the EC on Wednesday.
The Election Commission (EC) approved two proposals of Public Administration Ministry and the Police Headquarters (PHQ) to transfer 338 OCs and 158 Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) ahead of the 12th general election. The EC approved the proposals on Thursday.
Additional Inspector General (Admn) Kamrul Ahsan said that the OCs who have spent six months or more at the same police stations have been kept in this transfer list.
There are now 634 police stations in the country.
Earlier, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) sent a list of OCs of 33, out of 50 police stations in the capital, to the Election Commission proposing to transfer them.
