There has been a disaster in gas supply across Chittagong. Gas supply to residential and commercial sectors has suddenly been completely stopped in some parts of the city since today (Friday) morning. As a result, customers are not getting gas in the supply line.
Officials of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL) said that the disaster occurred due to a mechanical fault at the LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminal floating in the Bay of Bengal at Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar.
Consumers in the household sector have suffered greatly due to the sudden cut off of gas supply.
A resident of Mehdibagh named Mohd Ullach said that there is no gas in the stove even for 4 hours out of 24 hours for a few days. It has been completely closed since this morning. It wasn’t even at night. I couldn’t even have breakfast, let alone rice.
Another person from Pachlaish named Farhana said, “I have never suffered so much from gas. Today, there is no gas supply in the whole of Chittagong.”
