Students of CUET have suspended the movement

Chittagong Engineering and Technology (CUET) students have suspended the ongoing agitation after discussions with the university administration. Apart from this, the university administration has also assured the students of fulfilling 9-point demands including widening Chittagong-Kaptai road.

The university administration held a meeting with 20 protesting students on Thursday (April 25) from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm.
At the same time, Cuet administration assured students to reconsider the instruction to stop academic activities and leave the hall.
Meanwhile, after the meeting, the students lifted the blockade from the road in front of the main gate of Cuet. After that traffic started on Chittagong-Kaptai road.

After the meeting, the protesting students held a press conference on the campus.
At that time, they said that the demand to arrest the bus driver responsible for the road accident has been fulfilled. The university administration will set up a fund for compensation, in which current and former students, all teachers and staff will contribute.
Besides, the work of widening the Chittagong-Kaptai road will start soon. They have been assured that a meeting will be arranged with the Deputy Commissioner within two weeks. The decision to suspend the movement has been made based on the fulfillment of these demands or assurances.

Syndicate meeting was held today Friday (April 26). In this, the issues of vacancy (order to leave the hall) and suspension of academic activities have been decided. Students are allowed to stay in residence halls for the time being.
