The district administration has written to the Chittagong Port Authority to pay the land price for the construction of the Bay-Terminal. Last February, the land ministry approved the allocation of this land to the port at a symbolic price of only 3 crore rupees. Through this, the stakeholders believe that the speed of the Bay-Terminal project will increase
Chittagong Port was allocated 67 acres of land 7 years ago for the construction of Bay-Terminal, a much-discussed and priority project of the Prime Minister. This time another 500 acres of Khas land is being allotted. Initially, the district administration fixed the value of this land at 1 thousand 241 crores. However, following the application of the port on February 11, the land ministry approved the allotment of land at a symbolic price of only three crore taka.
Last Thursday, the district administration sent a letter to the port authority to pay the money within 90 days. The letter also gives details of land allotted under Kattali, Agrabad and Patenga circles.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said, “Government has approved and Chittagong Port is going to get it in exchange for settlement of only 3 crore taka.” We have received the approval paper. I hope that I will be able to explain the land to them within a few days.
The port authority says that the Bay-Terminal project will speed up due to allotment of land. In the meantime, various technical aspects are being scrutinized.
Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, Rear Admiral M Sohail said, “Big ships can enter this bay terminal with 6,000 to 8,000 tons of cargo.” Now two and a half to three thousand tons of ships are in Chittagong port.
In this project, the matter of getting 124 acres of land of the forest department through the ministry of land is also in the final stage.
