Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Awami League presidium member and former minister Amir Hossain Amu from Dhanmondi area in the capital on Wednesday.
Rezaul Karim Mallik, chief of the DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the arrest.
He added that Amu faces several murder cases. He will be produced before a court and remand has been sought for him after formally showing him as arrested in one of the cases.
