Chittagong celebrated 54th Independence Day

At sunrise, the grand Independence Day program began with 31 gunfires at the proposed Liberation War Memorial area in North Kattli of the city. For the first time, tributes were paid by placing wreaths in the memory of the brave martyrs at the temporary memorial at Uttar Kattali.

Later on Tuesday at 8 am the Independence Day Parade started at MA Aziz Stadium

Divisional Commissioner took salute in the parade. Tofail Islam.

Members of Ansar-VDP, Boy Scouts, Girls Guides and BNCC from various educational institutions of the city participated in the parade.
Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman and senior police officials were guests there.

On the occasion of the day, the national flag is hoisted in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings in the morning.

Meanwhile, on the first hour of the Great Independence Day, tributes were paid by Awami League No. 16 Chawkbazar Ward in memory of all the brave martyrs of the Great Liberation War on the occasion of the Great Independence Day at Shahid Minar of Chittagong College premises.
Earlier on Monday night, people of different classes and professions including Chittagong’s freedom fighters, administration officials and employees, cultural activists remembered the terrible night of March 25, 1971 by lighting lights.

Officials and employees from different levels of the administration participated in the lighting of candles at the city’s hillside slaughterhouse.
