Chittagong shipyard blast: 8 critically injured sent to Dhaka

Eight workers injured in a shipyard explosion at SN Corporation in Sitakunda, Chittagong, have been transferred to Dhaka for treatment.
They were sent to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery by ambulance at 5pm on Saturday.
Doctors have confirmed that the condition of these eight individuals is critical.
The injured are identified as Barkat Ullah, 23, Anwar Hossain, 50, Al Amin, 36, Jahangir, 48, Habib, 36, Kasem, 39, Khairul, 21, and Ahmed Ullah, 38.
Assistant Registrar of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMC), Dr Raihanul Kader, said that 12 injured workers were brought to CMC hospital around 1pm, and eight of them, who were in critical condition, have been transferred to Dhaka.
Four others are still receiving treatment at CMCH, including one with burns covering 21% of his body.
The remaining three are not in critical condition, though they are experiencing hearing issues and other complications due to the blast.
The explosion occurred around 12:30pm at the SN Corporation yard in Sitakunda, during a ship-cutting operation, causing a fire at the site.
Two units of the fire service responded and carried out the rescue operation.
Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin, director of CMCH confirmed that several injured workers from the explosion were admitted to the hospital’s burn unit for treatment.
