Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today demanded quick implementation of Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus’s decision of reforming the country’s various institutions.
“Reform decision of Dr Muhammad Yunus should be implemented quickly. Steps should be taken to hand over power to public representatives elected by people within the quickest possible time for establishing people’s rule,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul made the demand in a press conference following a coordination meeting with BNP and its associate and front organizations at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital.
Noting this interim government has been formed through the movement, he said people’s expectations and necessity should be evaluated and reflected in reformations.
The BNP secretary general hoped that the reforms for election of the people’s representative should be done quickly.
Asked about the Chief Adviser’s remarks over public administration, the BNP secretary general said: “This government is completely a new one.
Secondly, what Awami League has done in administration so far is that in most of the cases they promoted the individuals belonging to their opinions in order to politicize it. So it will take time to bring order here.”
It is not possible to appoint new ones in those positions in the administration so that works should be carried on keeping those who are there, he said adding that “We will have to keep patient to this end”.
Mirza Fakhrul said a clique is making evil attempts in a planned way to thwart the mass-upsurge of the student-people.
Fascist Sheikh Hasina is spreading propaganda against the country staying there, he said.
At the same time, evil efforts are being carried out to create unrest in industry sector, he said urging the people to resist this evil design.
About the International Day of Democracy on September 15, the BNP Secretary General said the party’s standing committee has decided to observe the day with importance with a view to giving an institutional shape to democracy.

Cultural programme will also be held in the rally, he said adding that another rally will be held in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on September 15.
In the press conference, about the health condition of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, her personal physician and party’s Standing Committee Member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said Awami League government neglected in providing necessary healthcare to Begum Khaleda Zia by keeping her in jail.
