Health Minister passed MBBS from Chittagong Medical College in 1973. After 50 years, he became a minister and inaugurated a 30-bed ICU ward in that institution.
He was very excited as his name was involved in such a work.
On Saturday (January 27) the ICU ward was inaugurated by Dr. Samanta Lal Sen expressed his feelings to the journalists.
The minister said, I feel privileged to inaugurate it as a student of Chittagong Medical College. We hope that this unit will play a role in saving the lives of patients with dementia.
The new ICU ward in the erstwhile psychiatric ward behind the Fair Price Pharmacy on the ground floor of Cmc Hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. During the latest corona epidemic, there was an ICU crisis in Chittagong.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital had only 20 ICUs in the last 63 years since its establishment. As 30 ICUs were opened this year, the total number of ICUs stood at 50.
On this day, the Health Minister visited the designated site for the 150-bed Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit to be set up at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The health minister said, we have been fighting with this burn unit for a long time. I am a student of this medical college. My dream is to have a burn unit here. We have got the job done. There is always contact with the Chinese. The issue of the burn unit will be taken up in the pre-open meeting on Sunday (January 28). After that, I will talk to the Prime Minister only after the DPP is passed. If everyone helps, the work of 150-bed burn unit will start soon.
