Jamaat-Shibir banned, notification issued

The government has banned Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir for their alleged involvement in the recent violence.

Home Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday afternoon.

Jamaat-Shibir was banned under the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009.

Earlier, the Awami League-led 14-party alliance took the decision of banning Jamaat-Shibir at a meeting.
