The Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) has announced the MBBS admission test schedule for the academic year 2024–25 for both public and private medical colleges in Bangladesh.
On Monday, the DGME published the admission notification on its website, signed by Professor Dr Rubina Yasmin, additional director general (Medical Education).
Applications for the admission test will begin on Tuesday and will continue until December 27.
The test is scheduled to take place on January 17, 2025, from 10am to 11am.
To be eligible for the MBBS admission test, applicants must have passed their HSC, A-Level, or equivalent examinations in 2023 or 2024.
Students who completed their SSC, O-Level, or equivalent exams before 2021 are not eligible to apply.
Candidates must have a science background in both SSC and HSC (or equivalents), with mandatory subjects including Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
The combined GPA of SSC and HSC (or equivalents) must be at least 9.00.
However, for indigenous and non-indigenous applicants from hilly districts, the minimum combined GPA requirement is 8.00, with no single exam GPA falling below 3.50.
Additionally, all candidates must have a minimum grade point of 4.00 in Biology in their HSC, A-Level, or equivalent exam.
The written admission test will be based on the HSC syllabus and will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark.
The subject-wise mark distribution is as follows: Biology (30), Chemistry (25), Physics (20), English (15), and General Knowledge (Bangladesh & International Affairs) (10).
The test duration is one hour.
For each correct answer, candidates will receive one mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
Candidates scoring below 40 marks will be deemed unsuccessful and ineligible for admission to MBBS or equivalent courses, either domestically or abroad.
