The Adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, has announced that the book festival traditionally held on January 1 will not take place at the start of 2025.
He attributed the delay to revisions and modifications made to several chapters in textbooks across all classes, which have slowed the printing process. As a result, students will receive their books by mid-January instead of the year’s start.
Dr Poddar shared this update on Sunday while addressing journalists, after a meeting with officials from the Khulna division.
The adviser also revealed plans to gradually implement a mid-day meal program in all primary schools within the next five years, with the project starting next year. He highlighted the importance of improving primary school infrastructure and ensuring qualitative changes in education.
During the meeting, officials said that the need for merit-based recruitment and promotions to enhance the quality of primary education. They also called for swift resolution of existing challenges in primary schools and proposed strategies to foster students’ continuous classroom engagement.
