12kg LPG cylinder price raised, fixed at Tk 1,366

The government has raised the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at consumer level. The 12 kg LPG cylinder price has been fixed at Tk 1,366 raising by Tk 3.

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday (July 2) afternoon announced raising the 12-kg LPG cylinder price by Tk 3.

The new prices will come into effect from 6:00pm on Tuesday (July 2), BERC chairman Md Nurul Amin said at a press conference.

The BERC chairman also said that the LPG price has been readjusted based on the price announced by the Saudi state-run company Aramco for the month of July.

If the Saudi Arabia increases the LPG prices, then the base price will go up, he said.

BERC members Dr Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury, Abul Khair Md Aminur Rahman, Dr Md Helal Uddin, and commission secretary Barrister Khalilur Rahman were present.

However, there are allegations that the consumers are not getting LPG cylinders at the price fixed by the BERC. They alleged that the sellers are charging excessive prices. But they are not being brought under punishment.
