Police and Chairperson Security Force (CSF) have detained two individuals from in front of the Gulshan residence of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in the capital on Sunday.
One of the arrested, Md Ruhul Amin, 46, was picked up from in front of house number 196 in Gulshan at around 10.50am. He identified himself as a resident of Matlab Dakshin upazila in Chandpur district.
According to police, Ruhul was taking photographs of the residence and nearby vehicles from different angles. Finding his activities suspicious, police and CSF personnel questioned him and later detained him.
Shortly afterwards, at around 11:15am, another individual named Md Omar Faruk was arrested from the same location. His identity could not be immediately confirmed.
In that case, police have stated that they recovered two packets of hemp from his possession while searching him on suspicion.
Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rakibul Hasan confirmed the matter, saying the two detainees had been sent to a mobile court for further legal proceedings
