Five workers were injured in a fire extinguisher explosion in the Mirsarai Economic Zone of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar of Chittagong.

The accident took place at the Modern Syntex Limited factory at 10:30am on Thursday.
The injured were rescued and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

The injured are Muslim Uddin, 30, Monirul Islam, 27, Pallab Sheel, 30, Saikat Ahmad, 20, and Bulbul, 24.
One of them works in Modern Syntex Limited, while the other four are working with the contracting firm JD-3.

Modern Syntex Limited General Manager Sobol Barua said five workers were injured when a fire extinguisher tilted and opened the lid, and gas came out. It was not an explosion, but an accidental opening of the lid.
Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex emergency department on-duty doctor Jaya Dhar said their physical condition is not so good, so they have been referred to CMCH. They sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies, including head.
