Govt, private relief efforts continue for flood victims: Home Minister

 

BNP is a government of the people and will always stand by them. Government has taken necessary preparations to tackle natural disasters, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.

 

Both public and private relief efforts are ongoing to assist the flood-affected people, the minister added.

He made these remarks to journalists after distributing relief materials to flood victims in the Fasiakhali area of Chakaria upazila on Friday afternoon.

 

The Home Minister said, survey is underway in the flood-affected areas to assess the damage. Following the survey, necessary steps will be taken to repair damaged roads, educational institutes, and embankments. Government will assist affected farmers to help them reinstate their normal life.

 

Later, the minister visited the damaged embankments, roads, and houses in the Charakul area of Chakaria. He spoke with the victims about their sufferings and directed the local administration to take swift, effective measures.

 

Among others, Home Ministry officials, reserved seat MP Advocate Shamim Ara Swapna, Cox’s Bazar District Commissioner Abdul Mannan, and Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shaheen Delwar were present during the visit.
