Titas Gas authorities on Tuesday said the supply of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) from the LNG terminals in Maheshkhali has dropped significantly due to a technical fault, raising the possibility of a severe gas shortage in areas under its distribution network.
In a message issued on Tuesday (July 21), the authorities said RLNG supply from the Maheshkhali terminals has decreased by around 450 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) because of the technical glitch.
The authorities said gas pressure in many areas may remain significantly below normal due to the reduced supply, which could disrupt industrial production, commercial operations and the daily activities of residential consumers.
Titas Gas apologised to its customers for the temporary inconvenience.
