PM Tarique Rahman meets outgoing Bangladesh Navy Chief

 

Outgoing Chief of the Bangladesh Navy Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan paid a farewell courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Secretariat on Wednesday, where they discussed national sovereignty, maritime security, naval modernization, and other issues of national importance.

During the meeting held on Wednesday afternoon, the prime minister praised Admiral Nazmul Hassan for his distinguished service and leadership, saying his contributions had played a significant role in strengthening the Bangladesh Navy’s professionalism, operational capability, and modernization.

Prime Minister Rahman acknowledged the admiral’s vision and commitment in enhancing the force’s capacity and advancing its development during his tenure.

In response, Admiral Nazmul Hassan expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for his continuous guidance, cooperation, and unwavering support throughout his tenure as the chief of the Bangladesh Navy.

Following the meeting, the prime minister hosted a luncheon in honour of the outgoing navy chief.

Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan assumed office as the Chief of the Bangladesh Navy on July 24, 2023. Commissioned into the navy on July 1, 1986, he served in a wide range of command, staff, and training appointments during his distinguished military career.

He previously held key positions, including Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personnel), Director of Naval Operations, Director of Naval Intelligence, and Director General of the Civil-Military Liaison Directorate at the Armed Forces Division. He also commanded four naval warships, including the Bangladesh Navy training ship BNS Omar Faruk.
