Foundation stone of specialized burn unit in Chittagong in July

The 150-bed specialized burn and plastic surgery unit project to be built in Chittagong is on the verge of implementation. The foundation stone for the construction of the burn unit can be laid in the first week of July. After that, the Chinese engineers will start the construction work in full swing.
It is known that the burn unit project to be built at a cost of 284 crore 76 lakh 52 thousand taka will be laid the foundation stone on July 5 or 6. For this, the health department of the Bangladesh government and the delegation of the Chinese government are strengthening their work. Besides the Chinese ambassador, the country’s health minister, education minister and state minister for health are expected to be present during the foundation stone laying ceremony.After the inauguration of the foundation stone, it is said that the work will start in full swing from August. Director of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Md. Taslim Uddin said, “The Chinese delegation wants to start work in August. Plans have been taken to lay the foundation stone before that. The minister has responded to this. However, the presence of the Chinese ambassador is also under consideration. If everything goes well, the foundation stone could be laid on July 5 or 6. Work is progressing around the first week of July.Meanwhile, a Chinese delegation has come to Bangladesh to finalize the full program including the design of a 150-bed specialized burn and plastic surgery unit. The three-member delegation arrived in Bangladesh last Friday. Yesterday, they sat in a meeting with the health minister and high-level officials of the government. According to the sources of the meeting, the stakeholders gave their opinion on the activities of the specialized burn unit to be built in Gonachi Bagan under the jurisdiction of Chamek Hospital. Some changes in the design, equipment and medical equipment are discussed.The Chinese delegation will also sit in a meeting with the relevant officials of the Department of Architecture to prepare the design.
The Chinese delegation is scheduled to leave Bangladesh on June 14. They are said to have come to Bangladesh to finalize all activities including design before starting the construction of the burn unit.
Note that the cost of the burn unit project under construction has been estimated at 284 crore 76 lakh 52 thousand taka. Among them, the Chinese government will bear a total of 179 crore 83 lakh 20 thousand for the construction of buildings, machinery and furniture. Bangladesh government will bear a total of 104 crore 93 lakh 32 thousand for ancillary roads, border wall, electrical connection, security etc. including customs duty of 70 crore taka.
The burn unit will be constructed in the Gonachi Bagan area under the hospital, adjacent to the main dormitory of Chamek. The hospital authorities have already started the construction of the hospital in the place. The specialized burn unit to be constructed in a 6-storey building will have 9,000 square meters of 3,630 square meter space, 10-bed ICU, 25-bed HDU, 150-bed burn unit with three state-of-the-art operation theaters with emergency department and outpatient department.
