The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled nine of its leaders, including Barrister Rumin Farhana, for violating party discipline and carrying out organisational activities against party decisions.
The decision was announced in a party statement issued on Tuesday evening (December 30).
Those expelled are Barrister Rumin Farhana, assistant secretary for international affairs of BNP National Executive Committee; executive committee members Muhammad Gias Uddin, Mohammad Shah Alam, Hasan Mamun and Abdul Khalek; former assistant vice-president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and secretary general of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front Tarun Dey; former convener of BNP Dhaka North unit Saiful Alam Nirab; Sylhet district BNP vice-president Mamunur Rashid, also known as Chaksu Mamun; and Krishibid Mehdi Hasan Palash, president of the Bancharampur upazila BNP in Brahmanbaria.
According to the statement, all nine leaders have been expelled from the BNP, including from their primary membership and all positions at every level of the party.
