Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain has said that former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was not only the leader of a political party but a leader of the nation.
Speaking as the chief guest at NRB Global Convention on Tuesday in Dhaka, Hossain praised Khaleda Zia’s lifelong dedication to defending democracy.
He said, “She was not merely a political party leader; she was a national leader. Throughout her life, she fought to protect democracy and never strayed from her principles, despite numerous challenges.”
Khaleda Zia had been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka since November 23.
Her condition remained critical and she passed away at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, aged 80, after 40 days of intensive care.
