BMD forecasts rain across country on Eid day

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain across the country on Eid-ul-Fitr, which is expected to be celebrated on March 21.

Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or stormy winds and lightning in different parts of the country from March 20 to 22.

According to the forecast, scattered rainfall and thunderstorms may occur intermittently rather than continuously like the monsoon season. Several divisions—including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet—may experience such weather conditions during this period.

She added that both daytime and nighttime temperatures may fluctuate over the next few days.

Meanwhile, the latest advisory for inland river ports warns of rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds reaching speeds of 60 to 80 km/h in regions including Rajshahi, Pabna, Kushtia, Jashore, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Cumilla and Sylhet.

River ports in these areas have been instructed to hoist naval warning signal number 2.
