Bangladesh voices maritime safety concerns at IMO session on Middle East crisis

 

Bangladesh has participated in the 36th Extraordinary Session of International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council, raising concerns over increasing risks to maritime safety amid the ongoing Middle East crisis and calling for diplomatic efforts to ensure uninterrupted global shipping.

 

The session was convened to review the evolving situation in the Middle East and its implications for international maritime security.

 

The Bangladesh delegation was led by Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Nazrul Islam, according to a press release from Bangladesh High Commission in London.

 

In his remarks, he emphasized Bangladesh’s deep concern for the safety, security, and welfare of all seafarers, including Bangladeshi nationals working aboard vessels in affected regions.

 

Bangladesh reiterated its support for safe and lawful navigation in accordance with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

 

The delegation also urged all parties to engage in constructive dialogue and diplomatic initiatives to peacefully resolve the crisis.
