Iran’s intelligence ministry says 97 arrested for alleged ties to US, Israel

 

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry says authorities have arrested 97 people accused of operating on behalf of the US and Israel, including 13 alleged “spies” in southeastern Iran.

In a statement shared by Iran’s IRIB broadcaster, the ministry said the detainees had sought to “create unrest and stage killings”, reports Al Jazeera.

Additionally, the ministry claimed it had dismantled “five armed mercenary cells” in southwestern Iran near the Iraqi border.

Earlier, Iranian authorities in the northern Alborz province arrested 41 people accused of sending war footage to “hostile” networks
