Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday greeted members of the armed forces following the Independence and National Day parade held at National Parade Square in the capital.

The parade, staged after an 18-year hiatus, showcased a vibrant display of patriotism, discipline and military strength.

According to sources at the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier expressed satisfaction with the overall arrangements and praised the organizers for the impressive event.

As he departed the venue, Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with participating armed forces personnel.

Among those present were Defence Adviser Brig Gen (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, Chief of Army Staff Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Hasan Mahmood Khan and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin attended the event as the chief guest, taking the salute and inspecting the parade.
