Former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has been arrested in Dubai by the UAE city police with the help of Interpol in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
A top official at Police Headquarters confirmed the matter on Sunday noon.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed disclosed the development in Parliament on Sunday in a statement delivered under rule 300 of the Rules of Procedure.
He said the UAE authorities informed the Bangladesh government of the arrest on June 12.
”We will bring him back to Bangladesh soon.”
