Rizvi urges all democratic forces to remain vigilant against defeated forces

Political Adviser to the Prime Minister and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Adv Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has urged all democratic forces to remain vigilant against what he described as conspiracies by defeated forces seeking to undermine the government and the country’s democratic progress.

Speaking to journalists at the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday, Rizvi said the current government came to power after a long struggle marked by bloodshed, mass movements, and immense sacrifice.

He said the government is serving as a guardian of Bangladesh’s independence, sovereignty, and democracy.

“There are many conspiracies and plots against this government. Defeated forces may attempt to create instability and tarnish its image. That is why we have already warned everyone to remain alert. On behalf of the party chairman, our leaders and activists have been instructed to act like vigilant guardians.”

Referring to the upcoming Rath Yatra festival, Rizvi said BNP leaders and activists would stand beside members of the Hindu community to help ensure their safety.

He urged everyone to remain alert so that no one could exploit the festival or provoke unrest that might tarnish the country’s centuries-old tradition of communal harmony.

According to Rizvi, the people of Bangladesh, including Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and members of various ethnic communities, are now united and have realized who had attempted to create division among the nation’s people in the past.

He said the participation of people from all communities in elections and religious festivals demonstrates that no anti-democratic force will be able to break the country’s strong national unity.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s initiatives, Rizvi said the government is making relentless efforts to advance the country’s overall development and progress, while warning that no agents or provocateurs should be allowed to disrupt these efforts.

The BNP leader called upon all democratic forces and political parties to work together to ensure that the Rath Yatra festival is observed peacefully and smoothly.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s welfare initiatives, Rizvi said several programs have been introduced to ease the suffering of ordinary and low-income people, including Family Cards, Farmers’ Cards, and plans for Health Cards, which began to be implemented shortly after the government assumed office.

He added that canal re-excavation projects were also underway to strengthen agriculture, fisheries and water management.

However, he criticized field-level officials, saying that government programs would suffer if they failed to provide accurate information about the progress of implementation.

“No matter how hard the government works, if field-level officials do not provide accurate reports on the actual progress, the entire effort will be undermined,” he said, urging officials to implement government programs sincerely and avoid acting as instigators.

Referring to the government’s primary school feeding program, Rizvi described it as a highly humanitarian initiative benefiting around three million students in 150 upazilas by providing nutritious tiffin to ensure their health and physical and mental development.

He demanded accountability and punishment for officials in areas where students reportedly became ill after consuming food distributed under the school feeding program.

Among those present were BNP Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Assistant Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim Shaheen, Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal Vice President Dr. Zahidul Islam, and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Vice President Dr. Touhidur Rahman Awal, among others.
