A python snake was beaten to death on suspicion of Russell’s Viper in Lohagara. On Friday (June 21) around 11:00 pm, the local residents killed the snake in the union deputy’s neighborhood.
It is known that the snake can be seen in the locality. Later, thinking it was a Russell’s viper, the locals struck it with a stick and killed it. This created panic in the area. A crowd gathers eager to see the snake. Basically: It is a Burmese round-tailed python.
Mahmud Hossain, Range Officer of Chunati Wildlife Sanctuary Range, said that until Russell’s Viper is confirmed, it is not right to kill any snake in this way. He requested not to panic if you see a snake in the locality and inform the forest department.
