An air ambulance carrying Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and a prospective independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, has reached Singapore for advanced medical treatment following a shooting attack in Dhaka.
The air ambulance touched down at Seletar Airport in Singapore at around 5:50 PM Bangladesh time on Monday, after departing Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:55 PM the same day.
Hadi is accompanied to Singapore by his brother Omar Bin Hadi and his close friend and political associate Aminul Hasan Faisal.
Earlier, Hadi was transferred from Evercare Hospital to the airport by road ambulance, which left the hospital at 1:10 PM and entered the airport through Gate No. 8. He was moved to the air ambulance at around 1:30 PM.
The air ambulance had arrived in Dhaka from Singapore at 11:22 AM on Monday.
After a flight of approximately four hours, Hadi is scheduled to be taken from the airport to Singapore General Hospital. Doctors from Evercare Hospital in Dhaka and Singapore General Hospital jointly assessed his physical condition and approved the long-distance transfer.
Hadi was shot on Friday afternoon (December 12), in Dhaka’s Paltan area. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment until his transfer abroad.
The decision to send Hadi to Singapore was taken on Sunday (December 14), during an emergency call conference involving Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Health Affairs Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman, Evercare Hospital specialist Dr Zafar, and Hadi’s brother, following instructions from Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus.
Over the past two days, the government contacted several hospitals in Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia regarding Hadi’s treatment. After consultations with Evercare Hospital’s specialist medical team and discussions with family members, the matter was formally conveyed to the Chief Adviser.
Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman later informed the Chief Adviser that Hadi’s physical condition remained unchanged. The Chief Adviser has directed that all medical expenses related to Hadi’s treatment be borne by the state and that his treatment process be monitored continuously. He has also sought prayers from the nation for Hadi’s speedy recovery.
