The Bangladesh Army has carried out a significant reshuffle in its senior ranks, with several key appointments and transfers announced on Sunday.
The orders were issued from the Army Headquarters at noon, confirmed by a source at the Ministry of Defence.
Lieutenant General Mainur Rahman has been appointed as the new Chief of General Staff of the Bangladesh Army, the most senior staff position in the force.
He previously served as General Officer Commanding of the Area Readiness and Training Doctrine Command.
Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan, the current Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an ambassador.
Major General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, who was serving as GOC of the 24th Infantry Division, has been named as his replacement in the role of Principal Staff Officer.
In other changes, Major General JM Imdadul Islam has been transferred from the 55th Infantry Division to the East Bengal Regimental Centre.
Meanwhile, Major General Ferdous Hasan, who was Commandant of the East Bengal Regimental Centre, has been appointed GOC of the 24th Infantry Division.
Brigadier General Md Hafizur Rahman, who was posted at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, has been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed GOC of the 55th Infantry Division.
