Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has unveiled a creative digital initiative titled “Bangladesh in My Thoughts: National Reel-Making Competition” to celebrate the homecoming of its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
The programme was announced on Tuesday afternoon at the party’s newly inaugurated office in Gulshan by Mahadi Amin, adviser to BNP Acting Chairman.
Mahadi Amin said the reel-making competition will run until December 25 and will be open to all. Participants will create one-minute reels based on any of 11 designated themes.
The top 10 participants will be selected to attend a special event where they will get the opportunity to engage in an exclusive interaction with Tarique Rahman.
A leaflet outlining the competition guidelines has been circulated.
According to it, participants must complete the submission process in six steps. In the first two steps, contestants are required to produce a reel based on one of the 11 themes, keeping the duration within one minute.
In the third and fourth steps, participants must choose a social media platform; Facebook, YouTube, Instagram or TikTok, and upload the reel to their personal accounts.
The fifth step requires the use of the hashtag #BangladeshFirst in the caption, while in the final step, participants must submit the reel’s link to BNP’s official Facebook page under the event titled “Bangladesh in My Thoughts.”
The reels may take any creative form, including monologues, satire, songs, dialogues or short performances.
Submissions will be accepted from December 16 to December 25.
Mahadi Amin added that the evaluation process will be based on 30 percent public engagement and 70 percent jury assessment.
The competition themes include: Family Card, Farmer Card, Health, Employment, Education, Environment, The Country I Want, Sports, Dignity of Imams and Muezzins, Expatriates and a Corruption-Free Bangladesh.
Responding to questions about whether the new Gulshan office is intended for the Acting Chairman, Mahadi Amin clarified that it is a BNP office and not specifically designated as Tarique Rahman’s office.
Further details will be announced later, he said, adding that the party’s future election-related activities will also be coordinated from this office.
The press briefing was attended by BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and former secretary Ismail Jabiullah, Dr Ziauddin Haider, BNP Foreign Affairs Committee member Saimun Parvez and BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.
