The Worker’s Party of Bangladesh, a coalition partner of 14-party alliance, believes that without a multipartisan approach, a corridor will be imbalanced and will not protect Bangladesh’s interests.
The party claims that connectivity among South Asian countries must be established.
During the central committee meeting of Workers Party of Bangladesh on Friday and Saturday, party leaders expressed this view.
Rashed Khan Menon MP chaired the two-day session as party president.
The party emphasized the importance of connectivity among South Asian countries. However, it clarified that this stance is not unilateral.
According to the party’s spokesperson, the Workers Party announced to organize gatherings and rallies based on its five demands, in Dhaka on October 5.
Events include general meetings and protest rallies district-wise in July-August, culminating in a congress announcement in the first week of December in Dhaka.
During the meeting, a subcommittee of four members was formed to prepare a political organizational report for the party congress.
The party’s declared five demands include ensuring essential commodity price stability, implementing comprehensive rationing alongside existing procurement arrangements, setting up a “Special Commission” to identify and punish those involved in corruption and embezzlement using national power, closing down looting and irregularities in banking accounts, bringing back smuggled money, establishing a “Bank Commission” promptly to restore governance, prevent smuggling of money, and identify defaulters, ensuring judicial process for recovering dues and prosecuting willful defaulters through a “Special Tribunal”.
The party’s General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha presented the political report, highlighting failures in controlling price hikes, corruption, economic misconduct, looting and irregularities in banking accounts, and most importantly increasing the flow of Ganges water.
