Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Thursday morning started an eviction operation by demolishing a part of much-discussed Sadeeq Agro, allegedly built on a canal and road in the Mohammadpur embankment area in the capital.
A mobile court, led by two executive magistrates, is conducting the drive to remove illegal installations of Sadeeq Agro.
Sadeeq Agro came to light before Eid-ul-Azha after selling a goat to the son of customs official Matiur Rahman for Tk12 lakh as well as Brahman breed of cow, the import of which is banned in Bangladesh.
Earlier, on Wednesday, DNCC had written a letter signed by DNCC Chief Property Officer Mohammad Mahe Alam to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner from Property Department of DNCC seeking deployment of necessary police force to conduct the operation.
Meanwhile, the agro farm authorities removed cows and goats on Wednesday night ahead of the drive. Alongside, they also removed installations built illegally on the site
