The government has taken a decision to establish a separate company will be established to manage the Padma Multipurpose Bridge.
A cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, approved this decision on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain briefed the newsmen after the meeting
He said the company will be named ‘Padma Bridge Operations and Maintenance Company PLC’. It would have Tk 1,000 crore in authorised capital.
The company would have a 14-member board of directors and would operate under the Company Act. Board members would include representatives from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance, Bridges Division and Bangladesh Bridge Authority, the secretary said.
It will be responsible for maintenance, toll collection, and other operations
