The body of Bangladesh’s first female prime minister Khaleda Zia was taken to the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad from Gulshan Avenue residence for nama-e-janaza, where thousands of people are waiting to pay their last respect to her.

The national flag-draped vehicle, carrying her body, departed from her son Tarique Rahman’s residence in Gulshan around 11AM on Wednesday.

. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, his wife Zubaida Rahman, daughter Zaima and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir are accompanying her in another vehicle.

Khaleda Zia will be laid to rest beside her husband, former president Ziaur Rahman, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital, following her namaz-e-janaza at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

However, Khaleda Zia’s body was kept at the hospital mortuary overnight.
