Mahdi Amin, a member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) central election steering committee, has been appointed as the committee’s spokesperson for the 13th parliamentary elections and referendum on the July National Charter, BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan announced on Sunday.
“From now on, Mahdi Amin will hold regular briefings as the spokesperson of the polls steering committee,” Nazrul Islam Khan told reporters following the committee’s first meeting in Dhaka’s Gulshan.
BNP has formed a 41-member election steering committee, chaired by Nazrul Islam Khan with Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi serving as member secretary.
Md Ismail Zabiullah has been appointed as the chief coordinator of the committee. The formation of the committee was announced via a press release on Thursday night.
Nazrul Islam Khan emphasized the party’s commitment to ensuring free and fair elections.
“We hope for a peaceful election, and both the BNP and the steering committee will work to facilitate a smooth and transparent voting process,” he said.
