The foreign ministry on Tuesday summoned Myanmar’s ambassador to Dhaka U Kyaw Soe Moe over the shooting of a minor child near the Teknaf border.
The ministry has expressed deep concern to him over the incident.
Nine-year-old Huzaifa has been critically injured in the firing while she was on her way to buy breakfast with her grandfather in Lambabil village in Teknaf Upazila, near the border.
Bangladesh has clearly stated that shooting into Bangladeshi territory without any provocation is a clear violation of international law and a major obstacle to good relations between the two neighbouring countries.
Huzaifa is currently on life support in the intensive care unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
