South Africa have restricted Netherlands to 103 runs in the 16th match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Saturday.
Another impressive show with the ball from the Proteas on a tricky surface. It was a good toss to win for Markram and his bowlers did him justice. Jansen struck in the first over to send Levitt packing. ODowd and Vikramjit Singh couldn’t make an impact either and fell within the powerplay.
The Netherlands continued to faulter as South Africa kept chipping away at the wickets. Bas de Leede was nipped out by Nortje and soon after that, a suicidal run-out led to Edwards’ dismissal. A 54-run stand between Engelbrecht and van Beek was the saving grace for the Dutch. The former held one end up and got a few boundaries away while van Beek played a good cameo.
Jansen’s incisive spell upfront, Nortje’s exploits in the middle overs, and Baartman’s superb death bowling were the highlights for the Proteas. 103 might be a small score but the dicey nature of the pitch can make this contest interesting.
