Human chain in Chittagong demanding the release of Councilor Tinu

Today Chittagong’s Chowkbazar Ward Councilor Noor Mostafa Tinu’s followers formed a human chain in front of the Chittagong Press Club to demand his release from jail.

Court has sent Noor Mostafa Tinu, Ward Councilor No. 16 (Chawkbazar) of Chittagong City Corporation (CHSIC) to prison in connection with the beating of a Jubo League worker.
Chittagong Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sarkar Hasan Shahriar gave this order after the court hearing last Tuesday (March 19).
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Prosecution Nishan Chakma confirmed the matter.
He said that on Tuesday morning, Councilor Nur Mustafa Tinu appeared in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Chittagong. At that time, when his lawyers applied for bail, the court did not grant bail and ordered to send Councilor Noor Mustafa Tinu to prison.
During the funeral, on March 3, a Jubo League activist named Mehedi Hasan Rakib (33) was taken to the local ward councilor’s office in the East Gate area of ​​Chittagong Medical College Hospital and accused of beating him up and threatening to kill him. In the same night, he named 6 people including Councilor Tinu and filed a case at Panchlaish police station accusing 10 to 15 unknown people.
Rakib is a follower of Nurul Azim Roni, a member of the Awami League’s Central Youth and Sports Affairs sub-committee. Rony is also known as a follower of Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel.
