500,000 public servants to be recruited: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has informed that the government has decided to recruit 500,000 public servants across the country.

”Of those, recruitment processes are currently underway to fill up 2,879 vacant positions under the Ministry of Public Administration and its subordinate departments and agencies.”

The Prime Minister outlined several key initiatives spanning employment, sports infrastructure and digital development.

”A central committee has been formed to develop strategies for designating and improving playgrounds in both urban and rural areas nationwide. Under the proposed plan, each union and upazila will have designated open field measuring 8 bighas and 10 bighas respectively.”

The Prime Minister also noted that a separate committee has been established to ensure the effective operation of high-tech/software parks and ICT centers. Additionally, steps are being taken to facilitate the launch of PayPal services in Bangladesh.

Highlighting support for athletes, he said that a sports allowance has been introduced under the national pay structure in line with the government’s election manifesto. Initially, 500 athletes are expected to be brought under this program, with 129 athletes already receiving allowances in the first phase.

The initiatives reflect the government’s broader efforts to boost employment, strengthen digital infrastructure, and promote sports development across the country.
