A proposed budget of Tk 1,981 crore 52 lakh has been announced for the next financial year (2024-2025) of Chittagong City Corporation. This year’s budget, the maximum income from own sources has been estimated at 1 thousand 26 crore 45 lakh taka.
City Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury announced the budget today Thursday (June 27) at 12:30 pm at the theater institute of the city. He announced his fourth budget as the mayor of the current (sixth) council of the city corporation.
Meanwhile, the mayor also announced the revised budget of 1 thousand 661 crore 9 lakh 40 thousand taka for the fiscal year 2023-2024. The size of the proposed budget for this financial year was 1 thousand 887 crore 28 lakh taka.
Mayor said in the budget session, today is my 4th budget session. I am presenting the proposed budget of the Chittagong City Corporation for the financial year 2023-24 to the people of Chittagong City Corporation, remembering the importance of those who have entrusted me with the responsibility of civic services and development of this city.
The Mayor said that the City Corporation has been providing various services to the citizens for a long time. The present government and the 6th Parishad of Chittagong City Corporation are determined to make this institution a more effective service provider.
He said, I have accepted the responsibility with the debt of 1 thousand 75 crores. After three years of continuous debt repayment, today the amount of debt of Chittagong City Corporation is Tk 440 crore. 113 crore 46 lakh rupees for income tax and 134 crore 11 lakh rupees for value added tax have been deposited in the government treasury. 18 crore 41 lakh rupees for satisfaction and 16 crore 96 lakh rupees for future fund have been paid.
