Commercial railway traffic started from Cox’s Bazar

The long cherished dream of the people of Cox’s Bazar for 92 years has come true. On December 1, at 12:30 p.m., the first train left the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar for the capital Dhaka with 1,200 passengers. Commercial railway movement started through this.
Cox’s Bazar iconic railway station gets busy from Friday morning. The passengers of Cox’s Bazar Express kept arriving as the day progressed. Tourist police and railway authorities welcomed them with flowers under tight security. Along with passengers, locals also gathered on the railway platform. Enthusiasm among all.
Tourists are very excited to witness history. According to them, they never thought whether they would come to Cox’s Bazar or return home by train. But that dream came true today. Hopefully, from now on, trains will be one of the means of safe transportation and entertainment.

Cox’s Bazar will increase tourists by two-three times as compared to earlier as railways are launched commercially. The tourism industry will be more prosperous. Therefore, Tourist Police has taken various initiatives for the safety of tourists.
Additional DIG of Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region Apel Mahmud said, ‘Multiple teams of Tourist Police will work to ensure the safe arrival and departure of tourists in Cox’s Bazar. The patrol team will be accompanied by special forces. Besides, control room, emergency services and hotline have been opened for the convenience of tourists.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Railways came to inspect the first commercial train journey from Cox’s Bazar iconic railway station. Md. Humayun Kabir. He said, “Commercial railway movement has started under the instructions of the Prime Minister. This inter-city train will run from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka and Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar with 20 coaches. If the demand increases, the compartment will also be increased.

He further said that the present train has no cabin facility. There will be enough chairs in the AC decorated coach. Few more trains will start from January. However, local trains are not running for now.
