Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has called on people across the country to pray for the speedy recovery of Religious Affairs Minister Alhaj Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaykobad, who is currently undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital and is scheduled to undergo left hip surgery on Friday.
The call came during a prayer gathering held after Asr prayers on Thursday at the Jamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa Mosque in Chattogram.
Addressing the gathering, Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari urged Islamic scholars, students and the general public to seek Allah’s blessings for the minister’s successful surgery and swift recovery.
Describing Kaykobad as a pious, patriotic and humanitarian political leader, Babunagari said the minister had endured severe persecution during the tenure of the previous Awami League government. He prayed for his complete recovery and early return to public service.
The prayer programme was attended by Jamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa Nayeb-e-Muhtamim Maulana Ayyub Babunagari, along with prominent Islamic scholars, teachers and students.
Similar prayer gatherings were also held at several leading madrasas across the country, including Darul Uloom Hathazari, Jamia Obaidia Nanupur, Jamia Arabia Jiri, Jamia Darul Arqam Al-Islamia in Brahmanbaria, and Jamia Yunusia and Ashraful Uloom Madrasa in Cumilla.
The Religious Affairs Minister is currently receiving treatment at Singapore General Hospital, where he is expected to undergo surgery on his left hip on Friday.
