PM emphasizes merit-based human resource dev for a modern Bangladesh

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a merit-based, confident, creative and responsible workforce to shape the future of Bangladesh.

He made the remarks while attending a ceremony in the capital’s New Eskaton area, where he laid the foundation stone of the third building of the BIAM Foundation.

The Prime Minister stated that there is no alternative to establishing a merit-driven, skilled and people-oriented public administration across all state institutions to achieve the envisioned development of the country.

Praising the role of the BIAM Foundation, he noted that its steady progress since inception reflects the BNP government’s longstanding vision of fostering an efficient and well-trained public administration in the interest of the nation and its people.

Highlighting the need to modernise governance, Tarique Rahman said the world has already entered the era of artificial intelligence and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, making it essential for public administration officials to keep pace with technological changes.

”The use of AI, automation and digital technologies can make our administration more efficient, transparent and accountable,” PM said, adding that the government aims to deliver public services at citizens’ doorsteps through information technology.

He also assured continued support to strengthen the Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) Foundation to build a skilled and future-ready civil service.
