Take measures to combat diarrhoea outbreak in flood-hit Sylhet: Health Minister

Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen has directed doctors and health officials to promptly combat the outbreak of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases in flood-affected areas of Sylhet.
During an emergency meeting with Sylhet divisional health officials on Wednesday, the minister stressed the need for hospitals and medical centres to stock adequate saline and medicines to manage diarrhoea and other water-borne disease outbreaks.
He also directed hospitals to maintain a sufficient supply of antivenom for snake bite treatments.
Furthermore, the minister encouraged everyone to practice proper hygiene to prevent disease spread.
In the meeting, the health minister advised officials to collaborate with members of parliament from the flood-affected regions and take necessary steps to ensure adequate medical care.
Approximately 700,000 people in Sylhet district are affected by the floods, with new areas continuously being submerged. Around 50,000 people are currently trapped in the waterlogged city.
Although heavy rains in Sylhet have slightly decreased over the past 24 hours, continuous runoff from the mountains has aggravated the flooding situation.
