Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has warned that the United States will face consequences “it will never forget,” accusing Washington of violating last month’s memorandum of understanding and escalating tensions through attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure.
Speaking in a written statement broadcast by Iranian state television on Saturday, Khamenei described the United States as the “Great Satan” and claimed that President Donald Trump’s signature on the agreement had become “completely worthless and illegitimate” after Washington allegedly breached the deal.
He accused the US of embracing oppression, hegemony and brutality as core elements of its policy, adding that Washington’s actions had exposed its “deceptive nature, irrationality, unreliability and ill intentions.”
Khamenei also warned that the United States was seeking to provoke a wider conflict and would face greater costs and humiliation. He said the Iranian nation and the “Axis of Resistance” were prepared to deliver a response that America “will never forget.”
The Iranian leader urged the public to remain vigilant, support the country’s leadership and stay prepared as tensions continue to rise.
The statement came as the United States reportedly intensified its military campaign against Iran this week, with Iranian officials accusing Washington of targeting civilian infrastructure, including bridges, railways and seawater desalination facilities.
In response, Tehran said it had launched attacks on US military bases in Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait, and claimed responsibility for striking a US naval vessel in the northern Indian Ocean.
Kuwaiti authorities confirmed that an electricity generation facility and a desalination plant were damaged in the Iranian attacks, prompting the government to urge residents to conserve electricity.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Yemen’s Houthi movement, a key Iranian ally, may attempt to block the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in support of Tehran. Such a move could further disrupt global energy markets, fuel inflation and increase pressure on the Trump administration to de-escalate the conflict.
