11-party alliance holds rally marking July Uprising

An 11-party alliance on Wednesday held a rally at the south gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital to mark the second anniversary of the July Uprising.

 

The programme began at around 10:30am, with thousands of leaders, activists and supporters attending despite persistent rain.

 

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman was scheduled to address the gathering as the chief guest.

 

The rally opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran as participants continued to gather at and around the venue.
