Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Saturday urged people not to panic and said all government hospitals have sufficient stock of the anti-venom Russell’s Viper.
“I would like to tell the public not to panic. We have sufficient stock of the anti-venom for Russell’s Viper in all our hospitals. I have instructed that under no circumstances should there be a shortage of anti-venom,” he said this during a online meeting.
At the meeting, Dr Samanta Lal spoke about snakebites and Russell’s Viper after taking updates on the overall situation in various districts.
He said: “It is very important to raise awareness among the public about snakebites. Everyone should be made aware and motivated so that there is no delay in bringing the patient to the hospital.
“The most important thing in the case of snakebites is to bring the patient to the doctor quickly. With appropriate treatment, it is possible for the patient to fully recover.”
He urged civil surgeons and health department workers to work in coordination with their respective area’s lawmakers.
