Brig Gen (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam has been appointed as the chief security officer of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman to ensure their overall security.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi shared the information in a press release on Wednesday.
The appointment comes at a time when Tarique is set to return home from London on 25 December.
Meanwhile, Khaleda is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital. Earlier, the government declared the BNP chief a “Very Very Important Person” (VVIP) and assigned the Special Security Force to ensure her protection
